Hugh Freeze Hospital Bed

Liberty Football Coach Hugh Freeze Breaks Down Coaching from a Hospital Bed

The backstory of a surreal scene

A unique perspective

Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze shared his experience of coaching from a hospital bed in a press conference on Tuesday night. Freeze, who was hospitalized on game day due to back spasms, said that he held all of his staff meetings from his hospital bed that morning, which came as a great surprise to his team.

Freeze said that he was "not immediately having those same back spasms every time I move" when he got up that morning, so he decided to go to the stadium.

"I wanted to be there for my team," Freeze said. "I wanted them to see that I was there for them, and that I was going to do everything I could to help them win."

A different style of press conference

Freeze said that coaching from a hospital bed was a "different experience," but that he was able to do everything he needed to do.

"I was able to call plays, I was able to talk to my players, I was able to do everything I needed to do," Freeze said. "It was just a different way of doing it."

Freeze said that he is "feeling much better" now, and that he is looking forward to getting back to work on the field.

"I'm excited to get back to practice," Freeze said. "I'm excited to get back to coaching my team. I'm excited to get back to winning games."
