German Interior Ministry Bans Right-Wing Extremist Magazine
Compact-Magazin Shut Down for "Dehumanizing Incitement"
Minister Faeser Cites Democratic Threat in Decision
In a landmark move, the German Interior Ministry has prohibited the publication and distribution of the right-wing extremist magazine Compact, citing its dissemination of "dehumanizing incitement." According to Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, the magazine posed a significant threat to democracy and violated constitutional principles.
The ban follows a comprehensive review of the magazine's content, which revealed repeated instances of anti-Semitism, Holocaust denial, and inflammatory rhetoric against minority groups. The Ministry determined that Compact's hate-filled discourse had crossed a threshold that warranted legal intervention.
Minister Faeser emphasized that the government has a responsibility to protect its citizens from dangerous ideologies that undermine fundamental human rights and the rule of law. "We will not tolerate those who seek to divide our society and spread hatred and intolerance," she said.
